Semana sin fotos

Definitivamente tengo que sacar más fotos.. qué vergüenza mirar el teléfono y ver solo carteles de los eventos a las que luego voy!

Esta semana ha sido medianamente "productiva", porque había un par de examencillos, y algo había que mirárselos :( De todas maneras ha habido tiempo para motivarme, tanto en los típicos eventos en que parece que van a regalarte dinero como si en realidad fueran ángeles los inversores, como en una clase en que ponen de ejemplo éxitos de empresas de Israel*.


Empecé mi ayuda voluntaria al instituto de Berkeley, donde los chavales se quedan a hacer los deberes y hay muchos voluntarios que les echan un cable. Ahí estaba yo imaginando como se hacen las derivadas, preguntando por números en notación científica.. qué paciencia tuvieron los chavales conmigo!


El viernes nos reunieron a los becarios en San Francisco para darnos de merendar y que nos conociéramos. El número no deja de crecer! Y no es porque luego jugáramos al beer-pong y bebiera un par de birras ;)

El sábado, después de visitar el mercado del ferry que hay a final de Market st en San Francisco, fui a una stand-up comedy, fue muy guay y casi todos los cómicos te hacían troncharte :D

Todo ello aderezado por el windsurf. Estuvo intratable el sábado, vaya olitas y qué ráfagas, gracias a que vino la lancha por primera vez a por mí, porque veía que remando iba a tardar mil años en volver al pantalán :(


En fin, reto para la próxima semana: hacer fotos!

Y ya veremos a quien invito al cine de la iglesia de mi casa, yo pensaba que iban a echar Mars Attacks y van a proyectar otro clásico (hoy vimos Atrapa a un ladrón, de Hitchcock), Misfits  :-?

Course Description
Steve Jobs once said, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” In this course, we will exam how innovation manifests in the culture of Israeli society and its impact on the nation, the United States, and world. Through an interdisciplinary perspective, we will examine the evolution of innovation in Israel and its success factors for its economic growth as a “Start Up Nation”. This course will expand on a variety of technological and strategic business approaches developed in Israel and look at number of sectors from computer science and high-tech, to business and law, to agriculture, to health and social welfare policy, and regional development. This course will allow you to understand the current trends and innovations in the society as well its connections to the Silicon Valley. We'll also look at current challenges of innovation in Israeli society and let you hear from Israeli professionals, start-ups, and venture capitalists from around the Bay Area and abroad. 
We will emphasize the business and technological advancement side of innovation; however, we will focus on a variety of different sectors and approaches.   
Course Objectives
Upon completion of UGBA 198, you will:
Understand the evolution of innovation in Israel 
Understand the day-to-day business processes and functions within these sectors
Examine different business sectors and technological/business advancements
Understand some of the current trends and challenges facing innovation and start ups 
Interact with professors and professionals from the Bay Area and Israel who are working in the cutting edge of innovation 
Method of Instruction
Each week, we will cover a different perspective on Israeli innovation. The course includes lectures and discussions with assigned readings. Supplementary materials such as photos, Powerpoints, and videos will be shown in class and and weekly speakers will present their experiences from various fields. There will be opportunities for discussion and Q&A throughout the course. Participation and attendance is mandatory for success in this course.
